Real, solid hardwood from a family that's sold it for 25 years
Our owners opened East Texas Floor Source in December 1999 with a simple promise: sell real materials, install them right, and stand behind the work. Solid hardwood is where that promise shows the most - a 3/4" plank of genuine wood, in a range of species, grains, and finishes, installed by the same crew that will still be here if you ever need us again. Whether you're building new out on acreage or updating a home in Hawkins, we bring the same hands-on approach our lead installer has used for 32 years in the trade.

Solid hardwood from the brands you already trust
Solid hardwood has been one of East Texas Floor Source's specialties since day one. We carry and install Mohawk, Shaw, Bruce, and Mannington solid hardwood in the species, widths, and finishes East Texas homeowners ask for most, and because we order in volume directly from the mills, our pricing stays honest without cutting corners on quality. If you'd rather start with unfinished wood, we can stain and site-finish it to whatever color you have in mind.

Our crew nails or glues solid hardwood over plywood subfloors - the standard for most pier-and-beam and raised homes around Wood County - using patterns from classic straight-lay and diagonal to herringbone, chevron, basket weave, and custom medallions and inlays for homeowners who want something one-of-a-kind. Every solid wood installation follows established wood-flooring industry standards, and we genuinely enjoy the custom requests - if you've got an idea for your floor, bring it to us.

Solid hardwood on stairs
A staircase gets more eyes on it than almost any other surface in the house, which is exactly why hardwood stairs reward good craftsmanship and punish sloppy work. Where carpet is the budget option for stairs, solid hardwood sits at the other end - the cost is almost entirely labor, because every stair is a custom-fit piece. Our lead installer's decades of hands-on experience are what make the difference here: custom square nosings, floating stairs, open-style stairs, and solid site-finished treads, all built to match the rest of your floor.

Real & Solid Hardwood Flooring - frequently asked questions
Properly installed solid hardwood routinely lasts 50-100+ years, and it can be sanded and refinished 6-10 times over that span. It's one of the few flooring choices that outlives the homeowner and still adds resale value.
Not directly - solid hardwood is nailed into a wood subfloor. Over a slab, which is how most homes in Wood County are built, we either install plywood first or recommend engineered hardwood, which handles glue-down installation over concrete without the movement solid wood can have.
Prefinished boards arrive sealed from the factory, which means a faster install with a slight micro-bevel between boards. Site-finished wood is sanded and coated after installation, giving you a perfectly flat surface and a custom stain color mixed to match your home.
Solid wood moves with moisture and temperature changes, so we generally point radiant-heat installs toward engineered hardwood instead. If you're set on solid wood, we can specify narrower, rift-and-quartered boards that move less.
