Wall tile that looks designed, not installed

Wall tile is where a tile setter's skill shows the most. Cuts around outlets, end-pieces against cabinets, mitered corners, and grout lines up near the ceiling all sit right at eye level - there's nowhere to hide a rushed job. We carry subway tile, large-format porcelain slabs, marble and travertine, glass mosaics, and the textured tile that's become popular in primary bathrooms, sourced through Daltile, Emser, and American Olean.

We start by checking the wall for plumb and flat - a bow of even 1/8" over 4 feet will telegraph through the finished tile. We add backer board or skim-coat as needed, then dry-lay the pattern so cuts land in symmetrical spots - centered over the range, balanced at the corners.

Showers get a full waterproofing membrane behind the tile, niches are framed and waterproofed before tile goes up, and every cut at an outlet or fixture is hand-trimmed to sit cleanly behind the cover plate. We finish with sealed grout (or epoxy on showers) and a final wipe-down before we call it done.
